Our Beach House

Deciding to make an offer!

our canal view (the grass is a little dry, don't you think? haha!)

love the gas fireplace

had too much fun putting these rooms together - just love how the living room turned out
just the resort feel I was going for!

this antique vanity was recovered from the side of the road in Seattle (free!) and given a new life...
we attached a metal one-of-a-kind art piece we discovered in Idaho and applied some much-needed TLC,
making this the focal point of the living room

this big kitchen is great - wonderful to cook in!

Jo-Jo loves the Mary Jane's Farm quilt, and so do I!

the guest room has two twin beds - one for owl and one for turtle! (wink, wink!)

the entry, or 'breezeway', is a covered hallway leading to the front door to the main house -
the perfect place to remove sandy shoes or to pick up a walking stick on your way out for a beach walk...
the deck chairs live inside when it's raining.

a splurge: the antique drop-leaf dining table -
the table and chairs are probably the same age as the old Bible in the corner

Day 242/365 - last day of spring semester

Walk about the campus with me on this last day of the spring semester...I made it!

It's a shame that most of the student body doesn't get to enjoy the most beautiful time on campus...

they are all heading home now.

I wonder how many students actually stay on campus

through the summer for summer classes?

the Lutheran Church nearly on campus

I spend all my time in the Admin building...the home of humanities and classic studies

the last day of school selfie!

Snapshot: Home

Home is a name, a word,

it is a strong one; stronger than magician ever spoke,

or spirit ever answered to, in the strongest conjuration.

 ~Charles Dickens

It takes hands to build a house,

but only hearts can build a home.

 ~Author Unknown

Home is a place not only of strong affections,

but of entire unreserve;

it is life's undress rehearsal, its backroom,

its dressing room.

 ~Harriet Beecher Stowe

Home is a shelter from storms - all sorts of storms.

 ~William J. Bennett

Every house where love abides

And friendship is a guest,

Is surely home,

and home sweet home

For there the heart can rest.

~Henry Van Dyke

Home is where you can say anything you like

cause nobody listens to you anyway.

 ~Author Unknown

Home is where the heart can laugh without shyness.

Home is where the heart's tears can dry at their own pace.

 ~Vernon Baker

Home is not where you live

but where they understand you.

 ~Christian Morgenstern

He is the happiest,

be he king or peasant,

who finds peace in his home.

 ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Home is the one place in all this world where hearts are sure of each other.

It is the place of confidence.

It is the place where we tear off that mask of guarded and suspicious coldness

which the world forces us to wear in self-defense,

and where we pour out the unreserved communications of full and confiding hearts.

It is the spot where expressions of tenderness gush out

without any sensation of awkwardness

and without any dread of ridicule.

 ~Frederick W. Robertson

Peace - that was the other name for home.

 ~Kathleen Norris

Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower,

We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind.”

~William Wordsworth

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked;

for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.

~Galatians 6:7

It matters little how much equipment we use;

it matters much that we be masters of all we do use.

~Sam Abell

"Listen, are you breathing just a little and calling it a life?"

~Mary Oliver
